Maritime Partnership Exercise with Royal Australian Navy Conclude in the Bay of Bengal

*** Local Caption *** Indo-Pacific Endeavour (IPE) is Australia’s flagship regional engagement activity, supporting the Government’s commitment to strengthen military partnerships. IPE22 will conduct focused activities across Southeast Asia and the Northeast Indian Ocean, reinforcing Australia’s commitment to an open, inclusive and resilient region. Five ships, 11 helicopters and nearly 1800 personnel will conduct activities with 14 countries from 26 September to 26 November 2022, returning to Australia by mid-December. In collaboration with the host nations, personnel will participate in military exercises, workshops, training, sporting events, and cultural activities. IPE will deepen cooperation on issues ranging from humanitarian assistance and disaster relief to gender, peace and security. IPE22 includes HMA Ships Adelaide, Anzac, Arunta, Hobart and Stalwart, members of the Australian Army’s 2nd Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment, and Royal Australian Air Force air mobility aircraft. IPE22 also has representatives from across the Australian government, including the Australian Federal Police, Australian Border Force, and Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. It will also involve participation by Australian defence industry.

A Maritime Partnership Exercise involving Royal Australian Navy(RAN) ships HMAS Adelaide and HMAS Anzac and Indian Navy Ships Jalashwa and Kavaratti along with their embarked helicopters was held in the Bay of Bengal from 02 to 03 Nov 2022. The exercises included tactical manoeuvres, helicopter landings and amphibious operations, which signified the high degree of interoperability between IN and RAN.

RAN ships HMAS Adelaide and HMAS Anzac visited Visakhapatnam from 30 Oct to 01 Nov 2022. This was part of Australia’s Indo-Pacific Endeavour 2022 (IPE 22). The Australian Defence Forces were hosted by the Eastern Naval Command. Ships of the Indian Navy’s Eastern Fleet as also personnel from the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force participated in various joint activities.

The harbour phase included a wide range of professional interactions including experience sharing, joint planning activities and friendly sports exchanges. The successful completion of the exercise marks another milestone in the growing India-Australia military interactions.
