Bellatrix, an IISc incubated space Start-up instituted in 2015 and engaged in development of propulsion systems, has developed mono-propellant thrusters, green propellants and electric thrusters.
With a plan to diversify the products into orbital transfer vehicles and other advanced electric propulsion technologies, the company recently signed an agreement with Government of Karnataka to invest to the extent of $76 M in setting up a world-class space factory in Bangalore. During the inauguration, the company also entered into agreements with additive manufacturing companies to work on technologies for in-space manufacturing.
S. Somanath, Chairman ISRO visited the Bellatrix’s space propulsion laboratory located at IISc and inspected the testing of high performance green monopropellant thruster and Hall Effect Thruster. He also inaugurated their new green office themed headquarters at Bengaluru on November 12, 2022 and wished the team Bellatrix to grow globally.
